I'm sure I recently saw an interview clip where he said that. Apparently quite a few actors turned down the role, perhaps a good thing as I can't imagine but Rooney playing Sammy. I think he's a vastly undervalued Hollywood presence, and it's odd to think that a person who should have been treated like a living legend was so marginalised. The same with Don Rickles, actually...they were still vital and funny in their old age.<br /><br />I'll have to hunt down this episode. It'll be nice to see the Micky that I knew first, and doing what he did so well.
